Olbermann’s Special Comment for the Ages
“This way madness lies.”Â
Clinton has obviously calculated that the racial overtones being floated by her surrogates are more helpful to her goal than is any potential fallout. It’s The Democratic party be damned. Polls show she isn’t getting any of the African American vote in her battle against Obama, so why not polarize the whites and position this as a race war? Sure it will kill the party in the intermediate and long term, but that’s not her problem.
Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment is particularly notable as he has always been an ardent Clinton supporter.

There is quite a little brouhaha brewing over Hillary Clinton’s latest “Red Phone” commercial and whether the “N” word is subliminally pasted on one of the children’s pajamas.   Check out the commercial above paying close attention at the 12 second mark. The letters NIG are clearly visible above the crease in the child’s pajamas.  Is this a deliberate attempt at subliminal racism?       I thought the Bush “RATS” controversy in 2000 was absurd - remember the commercial where the word Bureaucrats faded from view leaving behind the word RATS -  but this is just off the map.    As any regular reader of this blog knows I’m a bit in the tank for Obama, even overlooking his little Farrakhan faux paux at the Ohio debate, but suggestions that the NIG is some sort of subliminal fear tactic is just ludicrous.  The NIG is probably just a part of the words Good Night.     I won’t deny that each and every frame of these commercials are carefully constructed, it would be naive to think differently, but what we are looking at at worst is another example of the incompetence that has seeped through the Clinton campaign,  not subliminal racism.         I just hope the Obama campaign doesn’t overplay their hand on this one, lest they risk an overdue backlash right on the eve of the little tuesday primary and that could be the fulcrum on which this race finally turns.Â
Shakeup in Clinton Camp over Campaign’s Mismanagement
Much has been written about the mismanagement of the Clinton campaign from the poor use of funds to the positioning of Clinton as an incumbent type candidate.  The scapegoat for this is Patti Solis Doyle who stepped down after this weekend primary sweep by Barack Obama, ending a decade and a half of loyal service to Clinton.  A perusal of the comment section of my favorite blogs suggests that Clinton supporters are hailing the move as long overdue.   Â
In today’s Atlantic, Josh Green expounds on the fissures in Hillaryland that date back to her Sentate campaign in 2000:  Â
In one sense, Solis Doyle performed exactly as Hillary had hoped. Somewhat to my surprise, the long-standing fissures in Hillaryland never truly erupted when Clinton came under presidential-campaign pressure, certainly not the way they did in 2000. For all the chaos and disillusionment with Clinton’s performance so far inside the campaign, very little of it had leaked to the press until just recently. And despite her late start, Clinton did not lag on the money front: she has raised $175 million since winning her Senate seat in 2000, which should have been enough to fund a formidable campaign, even one that dragged on as long as this one has. That the money was so obviously mismanaged and Clinton was essentially left helpless to compete in last weekend’s primaries and caucuses is the reason Solis Doyle ultimately had to go. The problem, as before, was mismanagement — only this time against a worthy enough opponent that the cost was obvious to everyone.ÂSphere: Related Content
Clinton Campaign stirring up racial tension
Is anyone really surprised that the Clinton’s have resorted to race baiting in the wake of their campaigns near collapse last week.  After all these are people who will say and do anything to get ahead and win.  It will be interesting to see how this plays as the Clintons, Bill in particular, have always been favorites of African Americans.
