And the Credit Goes to…
I’m eternally puzzled by Democratic assertions that the successes of the 1980’s–fall of The Soviet Union, Economic Gains, etc.–were attributable to the democratically controlled congress of the era and not the Republican president, Ronald Reagan. Yet when the mirror image of that dynamic took hold in the 1990’s with a republican controlled congress and a Democrat as President–Bill Clinton–the credit for that decades gains is acceded to the President.
Was there an epiphany of sorts going on in the party where they realized that the executive branch holds more influence over the country’s future or is it just a bit of cheerleading gone haywire?
I’ll forever find it interesting how Democrats, when referring to successes of the ’80’s, cite the Democratically controlled as the cause, rather than that eras President, Ronald Reagan, yet when referring to the successes of the ’90’s, cite the eras President, Bill Clinton as architect as opposed to the congress of that era - the Republicans.
